Last week saw the climax of the UEFA Europa League competition with the final taking place in the Aviva Stadium on Wed 22nd. There were an estimated 30,000 travelling fans and Dublin Castle was the focus for activities on Tues and Wed as the Atalanta and Leverkusen supporters prepared for the final.
The free two-day Fan Zone celebrations opened on Tues 21st at 11:00 and the activities continued until 17.00 on Wed. The pitch programme featured football action on a 4-a-side mini-pitch, with a match between UEFA legends taking place on the Wed afternoon.
Fans were able to take a picture with the UEFA Europa League trophy, and UEFA’s commercial partners had lots of giveaways through a variety of interactive games and activities, while some local DJs performed live on stage on both days.
BTI Rentals draught beer equipment was installed to provide the bars across the venue. Our Rentals and Event teams were busy on site ensuring that Heineken Ireland would have their brands available at the right temperature and quality for the thousands of local and foreign fans attending the Fan Zone. A combination of refrigerated storage solutions for the kegs, mobile bars and pouring counters with draught beer chillers and pythons installed along with bottle coolers. Thirsty work providing the liquid refreshments you could say.
An interesting fact……the UEFA Europa League trophy is, at 15kg, the heaviest piece of UEFA silverware. It also has no handles.
